EASTER

Easter this year fell on April 17th. It's a bittersweet moment to celebrate Easter this year. For one, the Church observes Easter without Cardinal Sim, who passed away. But I am grateful to God for being able to witness Cheryl being baptized and welcomed into the family of Christ.

Traditionally, Christians, namely Catholics, commemorate the resurrection of Christ, the defeat of death, and the hope of salvation made possible by the crucifixion of Christ on the cross. The faith of Christians centers around this and that Christ pays for all sins.

The celebration is cut short this year due to covid, but the Mass's order remains unchanged. The lights in and around the premise were shut off, and darkness seeped through the Church. Each parishioner was given a small candle. Meanwhile, the priest will light up the Paschal candle, representing the risen Christ as a symbol of light (life) dispelling darkness (death). The light from the Paschal candle is then passed along to every small candle to illuminate the Church. Christ is risen!
